On March 31 – April 1, 2026, 8AM to 5:30PM ET, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) will host its two-day Pipeline Research and Development (R&D) Forum in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, bringing together pipeline industry leaders, government agencies, and public stakeholders to discuss emerging challenges and future research priorities.
The forum is designed to identify technology and knowledge gaps in pipeline safety and operations. Input gathered during the sessions helps PHMSA shape future research solicitations and develop a national research agenda focused on improving pipeline safety and environmental protection.
The event will feature a general session, five concurrent working group sessions, and a roundtable discussion, providing opportunities for participants to exchange ideas, discuss industry challenges, and collaborate on potential research solutions.
The meeting will be held in person, and online pre-registration closes March 26, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Eastern. Participants may also register on-site beginning at 7:00 a.m. on both days of the event.
Additional agenda details and forum information will be posted on the official PHMSA meeting page as the event approaches.
